Now that I am old,
I can look back upon my life.
I found I’ve lost more than
I care to remember

In my long-suffering struggle,
to reach this ripe old age.
I have been lucky to live,
as long as I have.

The relationships and friends,
I have lost along the way,
those precious memories,
are now gone forever.

These things, that I’ve lost,
I can’t have a do-over,
or get a Mulligan to recover them
as if, I was playing a game.

I realized too late in life
that my life was not a game,
though; foolishly,
I played it as if it was,

The final score,
has yet to be tallied,
however, I can only hope,
that when the game ends,
the score is tilted in my favor.
