Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ c FLOUR ALL PURPOSE
  • 2 ½ c SUGAR GRANULATED
  • 2 tsp SALT
  • 2 ½ tsp BAKING SODA
  • 1 ½ +2 tbsp COCOA
  • 7 tbsp MILK NONFAT, DRY
  • 1 c SHORTENING
  • 1 ¼ c WATER
  • 5 EGGS WHOLE, LARGE
  • 10 Tbsp WATER
  • 1 ½ tsp EXTRACT VANILLA
  • COOKING SPRAY NONSTICK

Instructions

Method

  • Sift together flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, cocoa, and milk into mixer bowl.
  • Blend shortening with dry ingredients. Add water gradually; beat at low speed 2 minutes or until blended. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes. Scrape down bowl.
  • Combine eggs, water, and vanilla; add slowly to mixture while beating at low speed 1 minute. Scrape down bowl. Beat at medium speed 3 minutes.
  • Lightly spray each pan with non-stick baker’s cooking spray. Pour batter into each greased and floured pan. Spread evenly.
  • Using a convection oven, bake at 300 F. for 25 to 35 minutes or until done.
  • Cool; frost if desired.
