Baking Powder Biscuits

Ingredients
- 3 cups FLOUR ALL PURPOSE
- 2 Tbsp MILK NONFAT, DRY
- 2 Tbsp BAKING POWDER
- 1 tsp SALT
- 4 Tbsp SHORTENING
- ¾ cups WATER
- COOKING SPRAY NONSTICK
Instructions
- Sift together flour, milk, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.
- Blend shortening with pastry knife into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
- Add water; mix only enough to form soft dough.
- Place dough on a lightly floured board. Knead lightly for 1 minute or until dough is smooth.
- Roll or pat out to a uniform thickness of 1/2-inch.
- Lightly spray sheet pan with non-stick cooking spray.
- Cut with 2-1/2-inch floured biscuit cutter. Place 12 biscuits on pan with sides touching.
- Using a convection oven, bake at 350° F. for 18 minutes or until lightly browned.

Notes:
For browner tops: In Step 1, add 1 Tbsp granulated sugar to dry ingredients.
Buttermilk powder can be substituted for Nonfat Dry Milk.
