Ingredients

  • 3 cups FLOUR ALL PURPOSE
  • 2 Tbsp MILK NONFAT, DRY
  • 2 Tbsp BAKING POWDER
  • 1 tsp SALT
  • 4 Tbsp SHORTENING
  • ¾ cups WATER
  • COOKING SPRAY NONSTICK

Instructions

  • Sift together flour, milk, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.
  • Blend shortening with pastry knife into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
  • Add water; mix only enough to form soft dough.
  • Place dough on a lightly floured board.  Knead lightly for 1 minute or until dough is smooth.
  • Roll or pat out to a uniform thickness of 1/2-inch.
  • Lightly spray sheet pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Cut with 2-1/2-inch floured biscuit cutter.  Place 12 biscuits on pan with sides touching.
  • Using a convection oven, bake at 350° F. for 18 minutes or until lightly browned.

Notes

Notes:
For browner tops:   In Step 1, add 1 Tbsp granulated sugar to dry ingredients.
Buttermilk powder can be substituted for Nonfat Dry Milk.
