GOULASH
- 2 ½ lbs BEEF, CHUCK, DICED, LEAN, RAW
- 3 quarts WATER
- ½ lbs ONIONS WHITE, FRESH, CHOPPED (1 cup)
- 1-¼ Tbsp PAPRIKA GROUND
- 1 tsp SALT
- 2 tsp GARLIC POWDER
- ½ tsp PEPPER BLACK, GROUND
- ½ tsp THYME GROUND
- 1 cup WATER COLD
- 1/3 cup FLOUR ALL PURPOSE
NOODLES
- 4 quarts BOILING WATER
- 1 lb NOODLES EGG, WIDE
- 1 tsp SALT
Instructions
Method:
- Place beef, hot water, onions, paprika, salt, garlic powder, pepper, and thyme in sauce pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover; simmer about 2- 3 hours or until beef is tender. Skim excess fat.
- Combine cold water and flour to make a smooth mixture. Stir into beef mixture until well blended. Return to boil; reduce heat; cook 10 minutes or until thickened.
- Add noodles to boiling salted water, while stirring constantly. Cook 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally. Do not overcook. Drain thoroughly.
- Serve 3/4 cup (6 oz) goulash with 1 cup noodles.
