- 1 lb FLOUR ALL PURPOSE
- 1 lb SUGAR GRANULATED.
- 1 ½ tsp SALT
- 2 ½ tbsp BAKING POWDER
- 6 tbsp MILK NONFAT, DRY
- 6 oz SHORTENING
- 1 c WATER
- 9 EGG WHITES
- ¼ c WATER
- 1 tbsp EXTRACT VANILLA
- COOKING SPRAY NONSTICK
Instructions
Method
- Sift together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and milk into mixer bowl.
- Add shortening and water to dry ingredients. Beat at low speed 1 minute or until blended; continue beating at medium speed 2 minutes. Scrape down bowl.
- Combine egg whites, water, and vanilla. Add slowly to mixture while beating at low speed. Scrape down bowl. Beat at medium speed 3 minutes.
- Lightly spray each pan with non-stick cooking spray. Pour 1 quart batter into each greased and floured 9 x 2-inch cake pan.
- Using a convection oven, bake at 300 F. for 25 to 35 minutes until done.
- Cool; frost if desired.
